980 Great West Road is a highly ambitious new masterplan for the vacant HQ building complex of global pharma giant GSK in Brentford, West London.
Hadley Property Group acquired the site and commissioned Haworth Tompkins in 2023 to collaboratively develop a regenerative vision for how to transform and regenerate this vast and under-utilised site at the heart of Brentford into a vibrant landscape-led mixed-use 15 minute neighbourhood.
Embracing existing building retention, adaptive re-use and circular economy principles, the masterplan maximises development opportunities on site and is set to deliver 2,300 new homes alongside over 320,000 sqft of commercial and community uses within a generous, landscape-led public realm.
Solving the interrelationship of the blocks from an internal daylight and sunlight perspective was a key challenge, requiring innovative architectural design solutions.
