



IQL North, Stratford

Development & Light were proud to work as part of Mecanoo’s mixed use scheme for Hadley Property Group, as part of the International Quarter London to bring forward and exemplar scheme that will provide 6 new buildings of market, social and student housing amongst a network of new landscapes and public squares. The scheme incorporates an innovative approach to bringing buildings of this scale to the ground, through activated podiums and providing spaces for community groups.

Situated between Westfield and the East Village the proposals will stitch together one of the remaining parcels of land as part of the Olympic Legacy, an exemplary scheme that leads with its response to neighbouring daylight and sunlight amenity, as well providing quality internal daylighting to the proposed apartments and student accommodation.
Renfrew Street, Glasgow
Client: MRP
Development & Light led the internal daylight on the project that gained planning approval to provide purpose-built student accommodation and short-stay accommodation.
Our scope included assisting with the formal pre-application process with Glasgow City Council, including direct discussions and workshops.

Ultimately, the project saw us deliver iterative Spatial Daylight Autonomy (SDA) testing to ensure the natural lighting within the scheme adhered to BRE daylighting guidance - BR209.


Eyre Street, Sheffield

Development & Light acted as daylight and sunlight consultant to help secure planning consent for a twelve-story student building comprising studios and cluster flats with associated amenities.

We worked closely with the design team to ensure all habitable rooms were optimised from a daylighting standpoint.
​
The use of innovative Spatial Daylight Autonomy (SDA) testing using MBS software allowed our technicians to work directly from the architect’s Revit model. This facilitated a fluid iterative testing process at a low-cost base for the client.
Hayes Park Central & South

Development & Light led the internal daylight on the project that gained planning approval to convert two unique Grade II Listed Buildings into 124 new high-quality homes.

The building was originally used was for high specification corporate offices and research laboratories for HJ Heinz UK Limited.
​
The project saw us deliver iterative Spatial Daylight Autonomy (SDA) testing to ensure the natural lighting within each new apartment was optimised in terms of layout, glazing specification and finish.


Roman House, NW11

Development & Light acted as daylight and sunlight consultant to help secure planning consent for the erection of a new part-four, part-five storey side and rear extension to the existing building.

We worked closely with the design team to create a daylight driving envelope to optimise massing potential of the site whilst respecting neighbouring amenity.
